Summer Holidays - Part IV - Florence

And then we reached the coast!

Sun and sand and...wind! There's a reason why so many coastal Oregon towns have kite festivals - the wind is relentless! And down in the Florence area, which was our southern most point on the coast, the wind was quite cool, as you can tell from all of the clothes we are wearing in the middle of July on the beach in Oregon. Sunny but cool.

There is one little main street in Florence with lots of restaurants, cafes and little shops. We ate at the 1285, just behind Anna - yum!

Anna was so adaptable during the entire trip, it was really quite amazing. She traveled well and she slept well, no matter if we were camping or hoteling. But, the one way she was a little, um... let's call it ornery... was that she ate poorly. Even her favorites were not acceptable. We didn't worry too much because she's got a little extra 'padding' on her, but it was a challenge to try to get nutrients into her. In this next shot she looks like she's eating well...

...but see that pasta sauce on her face? That's because she sucked the spaghetti totally clean - not a crumb of pasta sauce made it across her lips. But, at least she ate some spaghetti, right?

We camped for the two nights we were in Florence, and when the cool evening settled in, and after Anna had gone to sleep (usually after spending a half hour or so belting out the ABC song or Happy Birthday from her bed), we enjoyed a glass of wine by one of these...
