Snow Day

It's the end of February, and winter has decided that it is not quite ready to let go of its grip yet. The bulb shoots are covered in snow, as is everything else in the city. But, that meant a day of play in the snow without having to go further than our own back yard. Yahoo! Snowman!

Cates Park

While Saturday had us up playing in the snow, on Sunday we headed off to a coastal park on the north shore, Cates Park. There is a beach for searching for crabs and throwing rocks, a kids park for lots of toddler play, and a forest for exploring. A good way to soak up some sun and fresh air, and wear out a toddler that you're hoping will nap in the afternoon.

Cypress

We have had a streak of gorgeous weather lately, but for the most part, the good weather hasn't landed on the weekends. But, this past weekend was an exception to the that, and so on Saturday we headed up to Cypress to spend a good chunk of the day on skis.

Over a metre of snow had fallen in the week before, and it was the kind of light snow that we rarely get here on the wet and mild coast. Besides skiing, we naturally spend a good amount of time on fika, including hot chocolate, cold Swedish pancakes, and other yummy stuff.

Anna loved skiing on top of pappa's skis, and we heard an awful lot of "Again! Again!".

Patrik and I both think that this was the best ski conditions we have ever had up at Cypress. Let's hope that there's a whole lot of ski season left.

Burrard View Park

One of our neighbourhood parks is in such a beautiful spot. It sits close to the south shore of Burrard with a gorgeous view of the north shore mountains, and so on a recent sunny day this park was the destination of choice. I love days like this.

Signs of Spring

I know that it is only February, but on some days, for a moment or two, you can feel spring in the air. Like on this day when the sun was shining on us and warming our backyard. Definitely time to uncover the sandbox.

And, you can hardly argue against spring on the horizon when bulbs are starting to come up in the garden.

And, finally, when spring is in the air, even the littlest among us get the urge to garden. Soon!

Talia

Anna's best friend at daycare is Talia. Anyone reading this who has ever asked Anna how her day at daycare was, probably got the response "Talia, Owen, Talia!". Owen being best friend number 2. Talia and her mom and dad came for dinner recently, and Anna was over the moon to have Talia at her house. Both girls will need to move on to a different daycare in September, and we're hoping that they will get into the same place and stay together for a little longer.

Anna goes for a walk

Anna recently decided that her bear just wasn't getting enough fresh air and exercise, and so she has taken it upon herself to take it out for walks. Mamma is not allowed to follow too closely, and she gets a little annoyed when I catch up in order to help her cross the street. Already, she is exercising her independence.

Once in a while, she lets me catch up to play peak-a-boo. But once that game is done and she's back to walking her bear, she tells me very firmly to "Stay. There. Mamma." A little bossy, she is.

Amanda's 40th

There are a whole bunch of 40th birthdays coming up this year in our circle of friends, including one in our own house - but we don't need to talk about that right now...

Amanda kicked off the year with her 40th birthday in January, and we celebrated with some ice skating at Robson Square followed by a party at her place afterwards. Anna joined the festivities, and was quite the social butterfly making her rounds of the room and introducing herself to complete strangers. A little charmer (she takes after her dad!).

Happy birthday Amanda - you make 40 look good :)
