I LOVE bath time

I absolutely love bath time. First, I get to take all my clothes off and play with my rat (which mom and dad got me at a flea market in Sweden last summer when I was still in mommy's tummy). I like to squeal and play with my voice a little bit while I listen to the bath get poured. And then my mommy gets in the bath with me and it is soooo fun! She helps me float and we sing songs and I splash around until it's time to get out. It's pretty great...

Leka mer, Pappa!

Anna was very proud tonight to show her daddy how long she can sit by herself. She also read him a book... well.. maybe it was more that she showed him how she could eat a book...

And now Patrik is upstairs getting Anna ready for bed. I'll go up and feed her in a few minutes and then Patrik and I will sit down and have a cozy dinner for two, and maybe a glass of wine or two. Happy Friday!

Rosy cheeked and well rested

A break from the rain - yay! Woke up to a centimetre of snow (Nanaimo got 35cm!), but then the sun broke through and it was a lovely afternoon for a loooonnnnng walk. Anna didn't nap very well yesterday, so it was good to be out with her so long today because she slept the whole time. Now she's all rosy cheeked from the cold air...

The laundry can wait...

It's Tuesday evening and two loads of laundry are waiting to be folded, but I thought I would procrastinate a little longer and post a few new pictures. This also spares me for a few minutes from looking at the mess in the living room. We finally picked up our storage locker full of stuff from our old apartment on Sunday, and I had completely forgotten how much stuff we had in there! Honestly, if it's been there for over a year and we haven't missed it a stitch, it's probably time to get rid of it, hey? So, for now everything from the storage locker is sitting in the living room waiting for me to sort through...

The clouds and rain are back, and so our walks haven't been quite as long as usual over these past couple of days. Instead, we've spent some extra time working on tummy time and sitting, with Anna also supervising me from her exersaucer while I did some baking.

Yum!

Anna's body language is definitely saying that she is liking this food thing! Patrik fed her for the first time last night after work...

Visitors!

We've been lucky to have our good friend Miranda and her little (read: not so little) boy for a visit this week. They live in Nelson and flew down for a visit.

We have been out for lots of walks,

and today we went to Maplewood Farm on the north shore to visit all of the animals. Elias' favourites were the goats, but Anna seemed to like the chickens best!

Snug as a bug in a ... sleeping bag?

Last night, after Anna went to bed, I was treated to a yummy salmon dinner by Patrik for Valentines Day. I think it might have been too good because now I'm thinking that we should switch up the cooking duties more often! He also pulled a spontaneous hot pear with melted chocolate and cilantro garnish desert out of his hat. Yes, I did say cilantro - it was very good...

Today was all about maximizing our time outside because it was the most beautiful day of the year so far. Patrik built us some new stairs to our backyard patio, and we hung out in the backyard planning our garden and dreaming about our summer outdoor projects. We took a lunch break at Ann and Bill's, but then got right back outside.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that Anna got her first taste of rice cereal yesterday, and then she had some more today. It went well, and today she started reaching for the spoon and making impatient noises in between spoonfuls. Hmmm... I'm thinking she's going to turn into a mini-me in the eating department.

Give me some chow!

We picked up Anna's highchair today, and she test drove it this afternoon. She's looking forward to many many meals in it, and she's happy that she can now sit at table height with us when we eat.

Sitting (sort of)

Anna is this close to being able to sit on her own. If she's playing with a toy that's right in front of her, she can sit for quite a while on her own, but if she looks to the left or right, her body follows.

Story Time

We've been meaning to go for months now, but today Anna and I finally made it up story and song time at the library. We've been missing out! I think Anna is going to like it more and more. She spent alot of the time today checking out all of the other babies and listening intently, but I'm sure it won't be long before she is clapping and laughing along.

Afterwards, we went home and hung out on the couch for a while, where Anna told me about how fun she thought it was and asked me if we could go again next week...

Kvällsbus med pappa...

Today Anna and I had a visit with Ann and baby Graeme who is already 9 1/2 months old - unreal how time flies and how quickly they grow. He's crawling now and standing up with the help of chairs and tables. That'll be Anna soon! We had a really nice long walk with a stop for fika, of course.

Tonight Anna is having some fun playing with daddy, but I'm starting to hear the sounds of a tired little girl, so I'd best go and tuck her into bed.

Trout Lake

After a morning of chores, we took a nice long walk up to Trout Lake Park and back this afternoon. Patrik was a bit sore after yesterday's adventures sledding (ask him about when he rolled the snowmobile), so the walk did him good to loosen up his muscles.

Look mom, I'm standing!

Patrik has gone from the tropics to full on winter in just a few days. We were sitting on the beach in Hawaii on Wednesday morning, and right now he is sitting on a snowmobile up past Pemberton somewhere. Here at home, Anna and I are practicing sitting and standing, and we're just about to head outside for some fresh air.

Grattis Farmor!

Happy birthday farmor! Anna misses you (as do her mom and dad), and sends you big hugs for your birthday. She also wants you to know that she had a terrific vacation in Hawaii and is looking forward to her next flight, which will be to visit you in the summer...

The tail end of vacation

It's the last couple of days of vacation and we're feelin' good. This has been exactly what the doctor ordered. Yesterday we spent the day around Waikiki/Honolulu, and explored by foot. We found a couple of nice beaches with next to no one on them, unlike Waikiki beach where when you lie on the beach, the feet of the people behind you practically touch your head. Anna spent quite a bit of time trying to eat her feet, since she's just discovered that she can get them to her mouth all by herself.

Today we hiked up Diamond Head in the morning and then spent the afternoon wandering around town, watching the surfers, and having fika. Mormor and farmor don't need to worry about Anna being too cold, too warm, or exposed to wind because we've had plenty of grandma-aged women coming up to us and checking to make sure she is being well taken care of. I think they have all been satisfied so far.

Hawaii cont'd

Another great day in Hawaii :) Today Patrik got beaten up by an older lady surf instructor who tried to whip him into shape in one short hour. When Patrik came up out of the water he was dog tired but also happy, having caught several good waves.

Yesterday we spent the day on the east coast in a town called Kailua, and at a few points in between there and Waikiki. We snorkeled at Hanauma Bay, and saw some whales from a look-out along the highway.

We've been working on getting time to slow down a bit, but so far we're not having much luck...
