Reno Progress

The last couple of weeks have seen a flurry of activity and progress on the house renos. We can feel that we're on the home stretch now and it's exciting to see the house coming together and looking 'finished' (at least on the inside), and it's great to know that soon we can rest. Okay, with a baby on the way very soon, rest might not be the best word...

Mom and dad have been a huge help - coming over a couple of times in the last few weeks to help with the renos. In the pictures above you can see some of the tile work that dad did in the bathroom upstairs and in the kitchen, and the wallpaper that mom helped me to put up in the bedroom. And lillan's room is almost finished - it's looking so sweet!

August Long Weekend - Part II

On Sunday we headed up to Bates Beach where Christina and Kjell are the reigning king and queen of the camp site. They have been heading up there every year for over 10 years, and this year are there for a full 2 months. Their kids and grandkids come up at various times over the summer, and this past weekend, all 3 kids and all 11 of their grandkids were there. In addition, a bunch of other Swedes were up there either for the weekend, or like use, just up for the day.

The kids have a blast up there playing in the sand, jumping in the water, kayaking, fishing, and more. When we arrived, they were in the middle of a bullhead fishing derby, and Anna was on the team of 3 that won. Patrik got out for a paddle, I played some speed scrabble with the cousins, and of course there was lots of fika and good company. What a great day :)

August Long Weekend - Part I

Ahhh - it's such a great feeling to finish work on a Friday and know that you have that little bit of extra time off before having to head back to work. And especially on a Friday like this last one when Patrik had, well... let's just call it one CRAZY day. I'll let your imagination do what it will with the crazy part.

In any case, getting to the island to spend some time with family was just what the doctor ordered - and Patrik was looking forward to meeting little Isabelle for the first time. I think I was pretty good at sharing the cuddling time with him....
