Father's Day

It is Father's Day today, and Anna and I did our best to make sure that Patrik knows how much he is loved and appreciated. We started with breakfast in bed, the middle of the day was a hike in Deep Cove (the same hike we took last year on Father's Day) and brunch in the Cove, and we ended off the day with a nice roast dinner.

Patrik's girls feel pretty lucky to have such an amazing dad/husband...

Midsommar

Yesterday was the Swedish Midsommar Festival over at the Scandinavian Community Centre, and we spent the day there, enjoying the may-pole dancing, Norwegian waffles, Swedish shrimp sandwiches, the company of some old friends, and the sight of Anna in her Swedish "Lits-drakt".

Anna's farmor, Solweig, sewed this Lits-drakt for Malin, Patrik's sister when she was just a wee thing. I had to take it up about 5 or 6 inches (and take the waist out about 1 or 2 inches!) to fit it to Anna for this year. She was pretty stinkin' cute in it, I have to say, and she had many many comments on it during the day.

It was such an exciting day, that it induced a very deep sleep in the car on the way home...

Protection Island

We spent a very lovely and very sunny weekend over on Protection Island last weekend. It was a great change of scenery for us, and a welcome injection of some fun after the tough time we've been through in the last little while. Anna was blissed out, both from the attention of mormor and morfar, and also from the freedom of being on an island with few cars, few rules, and a few too many indulgences.

The hammock chair is always a hit. We have one at home too, and Anna asks to "go-ga", which is "gunga", or swing in Swedish.

The pool inspired the only crying we heard from Anna over the whole weekend, and that was because she didn't want to get out. It's too bad that she doesn't like baths as much as she likes being in the pool...

We took a trip down to Pirates Park for a little toddler fun, both in the play park and on the beach.

And Patrik and I left Anna in mormor and morfar's capable hands a couple of times, while we took some bike rides around the island and enjoyed the sun.

Mormor, Bulle och Mjolk

It's pretty hard to top a freshly baked cinnamon bun and milk....

but then you throw mormor into the mix, and now we're talking heaven!

Noa

Little Footsteps

How very softly
you tiptoed into my world.
Almost silently,
only for a moment you stayed.
But what an imprint
your footsteps have left
upon my heart.

(D. Ferguson)

On May 29, at 17 weeks pregnancy, we lost a little boy, our son Noa. We are so deeply saddened. He will forever be a part of our family - forever in our hearts.
