Weekend at Home

After what seems like a very very long time, we spent the weekend at home this past weekend. On Saturday, we mainly worked on the house - weeding, mowing the lawn, putting up the siding under the new patio roof, and putting up a few of the gutters. Seems like alot for two people, no? Well, that's because it is! Curt called in the morning and offered to come by and help with the siding and the gutters - we never would have been able to get it all done without the help! Thanks a million!

Kate and William also came over, and we moms and the kids mainly supervised and played with the kids. Check out William trying to escape from the car that Anna is pushing him around in :)

On Sunday, we headed over to the PNE - it's amazing to think that last year when we went to the PNE, Anna still had another week or so to spend in my belly. Time flies!

Anna just loved the animals at the PNE. Her eyes were like saucers and her jaw basically hit the floor when she saw the horses. It's the first time that we've been somewhere with farm animals when she has been old enough to notice and be fascinated by them.

The last PI trip of the summer

Time has just flown by since the last post, and lots has been going on, so it's catch up time!

We took one more trip out to Protection Island a couple of weekends ago - our last trip of the year because mom and dad are renting the place out for the winter, starting September 1. Our good friends Curt, Kate and William spent the weekend with us, and it was great to be able to show them the island and also to celebrate Kate's birthday which was on the Friday.

We spent some time down on the shore, walking the island, and relaxing at the house (hmmmm.... does this sound an awful lot like some other posts?). Anna and William had lots of fun together, sharing story time and bath time, and even sharing a kiss or two.

Camping!!!

We finally got out camping this weekend, and we had such a fantastic time! We managed to get reservations at Alice Lake out near Squamish. They are pretty hard to come by in the summer if you don't book months in advance, but I think that the threat of a little rain kept some people at home, which was lucky for us. And not a drop of rain!

Once camp was set up, Patrik and Anna caught up on some reading.

And later, while Patrik and I enjoyed our dinner, Anna flaked out with a bottle in a camp chair. She nearly crashed right then and there from the combination of fresh air and full belly. Happy girl.

Anna had her little travel cot set up in the corner of the tent, and in it she was as snug as a bug in a rug. And slept so well! It took her all of about two minutes to fall asleep, and then sleep through the night she did.

After dark, Patrik and I made photo messages for each other with our headlamps...

In the morning, after a liesurely campsite breakfast, we had an action-packed day.

The playground,

a hike,

feeding the ducks,

and a swim. By the time we got home, we were all ready for a snooze, but our dreams will be filled with great memories from the weekend. Can't wait to camp again!

Long Weekend

Over the long weekend (already a week ago!), we headed back over to Protection Island, but as a threesome this time. Anna was riding high on her chariot, making friends everywhere we went on the ferry.

The heat wave had been nearly unbearable - it's a little hard to sleep when your house is 33 degrees on the inside! But the island offered the ocean to cool off in any time the mood struck and a much cooler house that let us drift off into happy slumber each night.

Tim, Josefin and Isabelle were also there for the weekend, and the girls got to spend a lot of time with their mormor and morfar.

Maybe the only drawback was that there were many more people to share the hammock swing with on this trip...

Josefin and Tim wanted to take some one-year photos of Isabelle, so we spent an evening down on the beach where Bella was quite the willing participant. That girl knows how to pose! And she's pretty gosh-darned cute too :)
